8月16日夏の夜空をいろどる「五山送り火」。祇園祭とともに京都の夏を代表する風物詩の一つです。京都を囲む五つの山にそれぞれの火を灯し、お盆にお迎えしたご先祖様の霊を再び浄土にお送りする、精霊送りのかがり火を五つの山で焚く行事です。
